GUIDE TO CHOOSE BATHROOM FAUCETS - HOMESLIBRO

GUIDE TO CHOOSE BATHROOM FAUCETS -  HOMESLIBRO

When choosing faucets for your bathroom, style is just one consideration. You should also check that your preferred options will work with your water supply (standard pressure is fine for most modern faucets but some require a higher pressure), as well as being compatible with your sink or bathtub.

CHOOSE THE TYPE

Before you choose which type of faucet you need, first decide whether it must be—or you want it to be—mounted on the bathtub or sink, the counter surface, or the wall. (If your sink or bathtub has predrilled holes, your decision is already made.)

GUIDE TO CHOOSE BATHROOM FAUCETS

CENTER SET

Hot and cold water are mixed inside this faucet, and its temperature can be regulated by separate controls, which makes it a   good choice for a family bathroom.

SINGLE LEVER

With a single faucet and lever handle that controls the temperature and water flow,  single lever faucets are easy to control with one hand and very neat in appearance.

PILLAR

An old-fashioned pair of pillar faucets supply hot and cold water separately.  These faucets can be useful in restorations.

WALL-MOUNTED

Wall-mounted faucets are ideal for centre-drained tubs (but do require concealed plumbing). Check the faucet’s length and position are suitable for your tub or basin.

CHOOSE THE FINISH

Bathroom faucets are available in many different finishes, so what you choose will depend on the colour of your sink or bathtub and other elements of the bathroom, and whether you prefer a sleek and shiny or matte finish.

How to Pick Bathroom Faucets

CHROME

Shiny chrome suits contemporary and traditional bathrooms, and is relatively easy to keep clean,  although water spots do the show. It is available at a range of prices.

POLISHED BRASS

Medium to high in cost, and often only available in traditional styles, these faucets add a touch of luxury. They work well if teamed with warm natural stone tiles.

BRUSHED METAL

Best in contemporary bathrooms,  mid- to high-priced brushed metal faucets don’t show water marks so easily—a bonus if you live in a  hard-water area.

POWDER-COATED BRASS

Black faucets to match a black sink create a dramatic feature.  Made of powder-coated brass, and low to high in cost, they feature chrome levers or other details.

OIL-RUBBED BRONZE

Prices vary for this dark-coated brass finish. Over time, the yellow brass beneath the coating will start to become visible, giving the fixture a timeworn quality.
